I've been on the road traveling for the last several months, chasing my own Bilbo Baggins adventure. Driving around the entire continental US, I've noticed one major comfort when I'm adventuring: Content. Weirdly, consuming the same comfort content in a new place makes that unfamiliar location feel like home. The Lord of the Rings has that effect. Naturally, after a LOTR fan's 111th movie marathon and book read-through, the Tolkien universe starts to feel as familiar as the town they grew up in. Cheersing half pints with the boys at the Green Dragon feels like a welcome homecoming, no matter where you are.
So the next time you're feeling the discomfort of change boiling up around you, simmer it down with the coziest comforts of hobbits, elves, Rings, and a really bad stew.
